International MMA Superstar Randy "The Natural" Couture Tops The Los Angeles FitExpo Mixed Martial Arts Track

(Los Angeles, Calif…January 31, 2008) Mixed martial arts will be front and center whenCalifornia’s largest and best-known fitness event, TheLos Angeles FitExpo produced by National Fitness Productions, Inc. in association with Iron Man Magazine and presented by Gaspari Nutrition and BodyBuilding.com, returns to Los Angeles Friday, February 15 through Sunday, February 17, with more competitions, demonstrations, seminars and fitness exhibits than ever before.  Now in its fifth year, for the first time The Los Angeles FitExpo will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 South Figueroa Street, West Hall A. 

"Mixed Martial Arts competitors are true athletes that employ the training and nutrition principles of strength, power and fitness, the cornerstone of The Los Angeles FitExpo. We are excited to have the biggest names in the sport teaching and signing autographs at our show" said Erin Ferries, Executive Director.

The Los Angeles FitExpo complimentary MMA seminar track will be hosted by UFC referee Herb Dean and will feature Randy “The Natural” Couture, UFC Heavyweight Champion, who will appear Saturday February 16  offering an interactive seminar and autographs for his many Southern California fans.  The Dean of Mean Keith Jardine – the last person to beat Chuck Liddell -- will present an interactive seminar and demo on SaturdayOn Sunday, his trainer, Greg Jackson, who runs a sought-after MMA training camp in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will join Jardine.  Chuck Liddell’s trainer, John Hackleman, who runs The Pit in Arroyo Grande, California, will present an interactive seminar/demo on both Saturday and Sunday.

Who will walk away with the belt?  The Gladiator Challenge, pioneers in live MMA events, will present EVOLUTION, 15 live MMA cage fights featuring some of the hottest fighters and biggest stars in mixed martial arts at The Los Angeles FitExpo. World Class fighter Nam Phan will seek to gain the #1 spot with Gladiator Challenge against the undefeated Saad Awad. Also featured, current heavyweight champion Chase Gromley puts it all on the line fighting the one punch knockout wonder Ben Beebe.  This event will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 7 PM in West Hall A.  (Separate ticket required).

Over 40 MMA exhibitors, including Tap Out Magazine, MMA Worldwide, X-treme Couture, Affliction, Punishment, The Pit, NoLimits, Sinister, No Wimps and Stagr will have a presence on the FitExpo exhibit floor.

The Los Angeles FitExpo adultadmission tickets are $10 per day or $20 for all three days.  Children 12 years and under are $5 per day and under 6 are free.  Tickets are available in advance through the FitExpo website, www.thefitexpo.com or at the door.  Show hours are Friday, 3 – 7 PM, Saturday, 10 AM – 6 PM and Sunday, 10 AM – 5 PM.   On Friday, students with ID are admitted free.  Discount coupons are available at participating Los Angeles area Subway, GNC and 24 Hour Fitness locations.  Plenty of parking is available.  For more information on attending or exhibiting, call (818) 545-0290 or visit www.thefitexpo.com
